The 19th playable class is here. Wear one of three magic masks, share its power with the allies next to you and switch twice a turn.

  • Three masks, one at a timeIntrepid, Coward or Psychopath: your spells need the right mask.
  • Share your maskThe allies next to you get its bonus too.
  • Switch twice a turnHold the line, hit hard up close, or slip away.

The new class

A mask for every mood

Masqueraiders are masked fighters who switch between three magic masks to hold the line, hit hard up close or slip away and fight from range. Moody Warrior, Earth, Water, Fire and Air, playable from level 1.

Passive: Masks

  1. Wear

You wear one mask at a time: the Intrepid, the Coward or the Psychopath Mask. Every fight starts in the Intrepid state, without its bonus: cast the Intrepid Mask to get it.

  2. Unlock

Your spells need the right mask. The ones your mask does not allow are greyed out on your spell bar, and light up again the moment you wear a mask they work with.

  3. Share

A mask spell costs 1 AP. It gives you its bonuses for as long as you wear that mask, and your allies on the 4 cells next to you theirs for 1 or 2 turns.

  4. Switch

You can change masks 2 times a turn. Changing removes every effect of the mask you take off, yours and your allies'.

The three masks

Intrepid, Coward, Psychopath

Each mask gives you a bonus, shares it with the allies next to you and unlocks its own spells. The whole class is knowing which one to wear, and when to switch.

The Grimacing Mask Grimace · Level 100

A summon that walks up to your enemies and tackles them; it has no attacks. With Control Summons switched on, you play its turn yourself. Your mask changes act through it:

  • 25% of your maximum HP
  • 6 AP
  • 4 MP
  • Your agility
  • Intrepid Maskattracts the fighters in a straight line within 3 cells of it
  • Coward Maskgives it +2 MP
  • Psychopath Maskpushes the fighters next to it back 1 cell
  • 50% of the damage it takes is taken by you instead (this never brings you below 1 HP).
  • When an enemy starts its turn next to it, the Mask and you get a shield of 120% of your level for 2 turns.
  • Cast Grimace again while it is alive and it jumps to the targeted cell. If it dies, Grimace is on cooldown for 2 turns.

Dodge, Lock and close combat

  • Dodge helps you walk away from an enemy next to you, Lock helps you hold one in place: each point counts as 10 agility in the tackle roll, for tackles only.
  • Close-combat damage applies to every hit you deal while standing next to your target.

Shields

  • Masqueraider shields are a share of your level, and half that on summons. They block every kind of damage, push damage included, and can be dispelled.
  • A fighter's shields cannot exceed 100% of its maximum HP.

Getting started

Where your journey begins

Pick the Masqueraider on the character creation screen. Your three colours change the hair, the clothes, and the sash and the laces, on the portrait and on your character alike. Your face is your mask: it changes with the mask you wear in a fight.

Your own room in Incarnam

Your own room in Incarnam

New Masqueraiders start in their own room in Incarnam, under their statue.

The statue in Astrub

The statue in Astrub

The Masqueraider statue stands at [5,-21], in the middle of the paved circle, and is marked on the world map and the minimap. The Ganymede in Incarnam takes you to it, and the statue sends you back to your room.

Temple and mounts

Temple and mounts

Masqueraiders follow the Sadida temple. They ride Dragoturkeys like every other class, with their own mounted look, masks included.

The in-game Knowledge Base has a full Masqueraider article, and the Classes page lists every spell with all its ranks.
