Forgelances fight Armed up close, or throw their Immortal Lance onto the battlefield and strike around it from afar. Lancer, Earth, Water, Fire and Air, playable from level 1.
Passive: Immortal Lance
Armed
You start every fight Armed: your Lance is in your hand. End your turn Armed and you are On Guard: 15% less damage until your next turn starts.
Throw
Your throw spells plant your Lance on the targeted cell once the damage is done, if the cell is free. It uses no summon slot, never plays a turn and has 25% of your maximum HP.
Disarmed
While your Lance stands you are Disarmed: your Armed-only spells are locked. You and your allies next to it take 7% less damage.
Recall
Recall the Lance with Epilogue and you are Armed again. If your Lance is killed, you are Armed again too.
The Immortal Lance
Armed or Disarmed
Everything the Forgelance does turns on one question: is the Lance in your hand, or standing on the battlefield?
Swipe sideways to see the whole diagram.
Throw spells plant the Lance and you become Disarmed. Allies next to it are protected, your anchored spells strike around it from any range, and Epilogue brings it back.
Your Lance on the field
Volleyed Return: within 1 cell of your Lance (in a straight line or diagonally) you count as Armed. Casting an Armed spell there first brings the Lance back to your hand, then the spell resolves as if you were Armed.
Aura: you and your allies standing next to your Lance (the 8 cells around it) take 7% less damage. Two Lances never add up.
The Lance blocks its cell and line of sight. Nobody can push, pull or carry it and it never travels through Eliotrope portals, but a swap can move it.
Monsters never target it: they walk around it and go for you and your allies.
Around the Lance
While Disarmed and away from your Lance, Collapse, Phalanx, Iron Prelude and Middle Earth can only target your Lance, at any range and without line of sight, and their area is centred on the Lance.
Epilogue while Disarmed: cast it on your Lance (at any range) or on yourself to recall the Lance; its AP is given back.
Incendiary Lance
Fire Lance and Maelstrom plant an Incendiary Lance on the enemies they hit. Planting a second one on the same enemy detonates the first: Fire damage that grows with each detonation (18-20, then 26-29, then 41-45), plus 4 for each of your Burning Estoc stacks.
An Incendiary Lance goes out after 3 of your turns.
The spell book
22 spells and a Dopple
You start with one attack per element and get Epilogue at level 3. Armed spells need the Lance in your hand; throw spells plant it. Select a spell to see all its ranks on the Classes page.
Pick the Forgelance on the character creation screen. Your three colours change the hair and the beard, the clothes, and the fur trims and the pale streak in the hair, on the portrait and on your character alike.
Your own room in Incarnam
New Forgelances start in their own room in Incarnam, under their statue.
The statue in Astrub
The Forgelance statue stands at [-1,-16], on the plaza, and is marked on the world map and the minimap. The Ganymede in Incarnam takes you to it, and the statue sends you back to your room.
Temple and mounts
Forgelances follow the Iop temple. They ride Dragoturkeys like every other class, with their own mounted look.
The in-game Knowledge Base has a full Forgelance article, and the Classes page lists every spell with all its ranks.

The Forgelance arrives with a batch of improvements from the update just before it.
A dark interface
Open Options, then the General tab, and tick Dark interface (menus and windows). The switch is immediate and saved on this computer for every character.
Dark mode changes only the menus and windows; the map, monsters, characters and spell effects keep their colours. All text keeps a contrast of at least 4.5 to 1.
Drops and rewards
No monster drop is rarer than 1%: every drop whose base chance was below 1% now has a 1% base chance, still multiplied by your team's prospecting.
Trool Tokens drop from the Trools of the Eltneg Wood and the Tamed Trools of the Bwork Dungeon, and win level 100+ Polykrome ceremonial items.
